We ordered a few starters to share, including the cheese plate and a crepe. For the main courses, we had the classic mussels and fries, steak frites (only the ribeye cut was available), and a traditional pasta dish. While some of the mussel shells were a bit on the small side, the others were good. The standout was definitely the cheese plate. The restaurant has a beautiful, newly renovated location that enhances the dining experience.
I do want to highlight that our server was fantastic—very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but I’m not sure it’s worth a return visit just yet. We chose this restaurant because they give back to the community by offering a limited number of pay-what-you-can reservations for those who might not be able to afford a meal otherwise. I have to admit, though, that I've since found another place I prefer over this one—JULIA.
The new room is amazing! Lots of space at the bar and many tables. The mussels and pommes were a good size to share. I'm excited to come back!
A true jewel in Somerville that offers an excellent dinner experience. Visits after their recent renovation. The newly renovated room was welcoming, and the pastel-colored décor and tile floor reminded me of popular Brunch Cafés in Boston. With bread crumbs, the Gazpacho was a great way to open the food gates. Burst of Umami flavor from tomatoes and a light bitterness from the olive oil powder really woke our taste buds. The croquettes were a bit salty, but I liked the emphatic fish taste, well paired with the radishes from the Aioli Garden. Coastal Aioli garni was essentially an assortment of plastered vegetables, potatoes and seafood. Seafood was limited to shells and cobbled fish, but we enjoyed the unique experience of diving all in Aioli. For the Entrées we have the Risotto, the Pappardelle and the Hake. Risotto and the Pappardelle were good, but not as good as those you can get in Italian restaurants in the city. On the other hand, hake meuniere was fantastic. Firm texture of Hake went really well with the capers, zucchini and large pieces of tomatoes. The service was a little slow when the dishes came out one after the other. Since we split 6 plates, it took more than an hour for everything to serve. Nevertheless, our server was friendly and I would highly recommend checking it for brunch or dinner.
What wonderful food and maybe the most personable and friendly staff I have ever seen at a restaurant. We had a five person group and got to try a little bit of everything. It was all delicious. From the cheeseboard to the pasta, mains and the dessert. The gazpacho was maybe the best I?ve ever had. Their house blend tea was a really nice treat at the end. I will definitely be back next time I?m in Boston!
