Verve - Somerville

I thoroughly enjoyed the trout; it was delicious. The waiter was polite and incredibly attentive.

I have to say, my experience was underwhelming. To be completely honest, we visited during "Girls Night Out" in Somerville on a whim. While the bar was lively, the restaurant was quite empty. Unfortunately, our waiter seemed unfamiliar with the menu, which was disappointing. I ordered a dish he assured me wasn't spicy, but it turned out to be very spicy and inedible for me. When I asked why he didn't warn me so I could choose something else, I felt bad saying it was because he never checked in on us. On the positive side, he did remove the dish from our bill, which I appreciated. We still tipped on the full amount. The steak was tough and lacked seasoning, and the steak fries were quite bland. I'm hoping this was just an off night for them, as there are plenty of other options in the area.

The ambiance, menu, and service brought to mind the charming bistros of Paris. The staff was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable about the dishes, and attentive to our needs. I highly recommend this place!

Small portions. Great tasting food but I would not recommend the gnocchi.

Very tasty food, excellent service, what’s not to like?
