Feedback gevenWe ordered dinner and found it to be decent. The cuisine was very Caucasian-influenced, which was not quite what we were expecting as we are used to more authentic Chinese food. Despite being a bit watered down, the dishes were still enjoyable. The service was good, although a bit slow, so it's advisable to place your order well in advance.
Not everyone is going to like this place, but we do. You walk around back behind the liquor store, down an outside hall and pop through a side door into a waiting room where you can see the busy kitchen. Friendly, efficient, and classic small town take-out Chinese food. Of course it's a little greasy, but what do you expect in Sooke?
This has got to be one of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten the food from. It is strictly take-out only and is located at the rear of a run down hotel (The Castle.) Food was less than hot when we received it and most had been improperly cooked. Even though the people doing the cooking were Asian I have no idea as to where they got their cooking skills as none of the food resembled anything served in China or in any of the better restaurants around. Had to throw out most of the food as it was making us sick. DO NOT EAT HERE!
The food at this restaurant is quite good. We particularly enjoy the Wor Won Ton Soup and the Almond Chicken. It would be better if they offered fewer breaded chicken options. The portion sizes are generous.
The deep fried prawns and beef and broccoli were quite good, but the shrimp chow mein was disappointing with very small shrimp.
