Yes, there were issues last month with the boat but they were open and honest about it and even better; they have fixed it. The boat is basic but it has everything you need, do not expect any luxury but what can you expect for this budget? The team we had made the trip amazing; our cook Andy made delicious fresh food 4 times per day(3 meals and a snack) and we could not have wished for better dive guides than Yos, Rollie, Fred and Sayril. Safety and professionalism always came first. The rest of the crew were so nice and helpful up to the very end. You guys gave us the trip in Raja Ampat we dreamed about. See you next time in Bira or Komodo!
Just returned from a 7d trip around Dampier Strait. As it‘s a budget liveaboard, don’t expect any luxury like air conditioning or ensuite bathrooms. What you can expect though is fabulous diving with very skilled and fun guides (cheers Rolly! , tasty food and great company of like minded divers who come here to enjoy the world renowned biodiversity under water. The crew were lovely and did a great job providing for our needs, refilled the boat’s fresh water during the trip as necessary and made it a enjoyable and memorable experience for all of us. Only two things give room for improvement in my opinion: the compressor is extremely noisy and of course it has to run almost all day to refill the tanks. Some sound insulation would be adequate we had heavy tropical rain one day and water kept entering the front cabin from the ceiling. It wasn’t much and the pillow dried shortly after, but still your belongings and especially electronics are supposed to be safe inside you cabin If you’re in Raja Ampat purely for the diving, Epica is a great way of seeing 19 dive sites in only 7 days. I’d do it again!
Do NOT take the liveaboard, Epica, run by this shop. I was scheduled to leave on a week long trip with them on October 12. The boat was unusable; they had taken it out of storage the day we arrived and there was no working shower, one toilet for 14 ppl, and it was filthy. It was in no shape to sail and they could not get permission from the harbormaster to leave port, obviously. Five of us were promised refunds, which we are still waiting on. Book elsewhere.
Super easy pick up from the ferry, direct to the hotel, great food, great staff, really nice pier, very basic accommodations but perfect. They were not able to arrange for pianmo. Went with a different local company total rip off. By the way, it is off-season for a reason. The ocean was insane to try to get there in this boat.
I stayed at their report for a couple of nights. Best place to see the walking sharks, right in front of their place. Then did a liveaboard for 10 days and they were fenomenal, friendly crew, delicious food and they picked great dive sites. Love Raja Ampat and this place.
