Billykart - South Brisbane

My partner and I had a very contrasting view with majority of the positve feedbacks here. We had a terrible experience with this restaurant. We were travellers from Canberra and decided to give this resturant a go for breakfast. Upon our arrival, we waited at the reception (with the sign of "wait here to be served") for about 1-2 minutes without anyone serving with us despite seeing a waiter just busy entering his bill into the computer. Then we walked towards the barrister and asked for instructions. The barrister seemed hated her life so much that she replied rudely asking us to ask the waiter who was entering the bill. She just seemed uninterested! We still kept a line of hope when we were ordering our food given that there have such a good reviews. I ordered the australian aussie eegs and my partner ordered the congee. The food was literally awful. The australian aussie eggs is basically just a combination of all asian black sauces with heavily fried eggs put up in a plate and charged overprice. Overall, the eperience was awful and would never recommend anyone to go back unless you are eager to get conned.

An awesome evening Good service from our French waiter , pork belly divine , crab spaghetti excellent finished with a shared chic brownie Not a large menu but choice enough and food was very good Highly recommended Not too noisy and seats comfortable

Great food and decor! Billykart is an awesome little restaurant in South Brisbane with a menu to match. We had the crab toast and spinach & ricotta dumplings for entree which were both divine. The crab toast was refreshing and had very well rounded flavours, and the dumplings were packed full of flavour thanks to both the filling and the excellent burnt butter sauce. For main we had the lamb and porchetta which were both seasoned and presented to perfection. Highly recommended!

We only went to the wine bar so can't comment on the food. Chick serving us was hilarious and apparently is regularly working there. She's very knowledgeable and had good suggestions from the menu. They also let you taste first before you buy which is great. Large range of wines and we had quite a few really nice ones. Was really cold and it rained so would have been nicer if the venue was a little more protected/cosier? Can see how the open aspect would be nice in summer though.
