How many items are there on this thing. Cleverly named items after sporting identities (particularly All Blacks), but how did they find so many names with so many dishes? No lack of choice, however the number of dishes makes it difficult to order and takes some time to decipher with all of the sporting names. We managed to find ourselves a table streetside, and the service had us confused. With so many staff members, how is it that it takes so long to order? And with a 3/4 full breakfast service, why is there only one barista with another Espresso machine remaining unutilised? We were halfway through breakfast before our coffees arrived. The service appeared disjointed as we were served by multiple waitstaff for various items (appeared each member was doing something different ie.one took coffee order, the next presented menus, the next took food order, etc...). And then the Supervisor (assuming this was the case as he had his back to us most of the time whilst processing payments) didn't appear to be paying attention to service, and was there merely for cash purposes.I thought this may be a local management issue, but then found the same environment at the same branded cafe in Stafford. Food was nothing better than any other cafe in the area, and thought the menu pricey as well (other options in Grey Street provide cheaper) We settled on Scrambled Eggs, and a Breakfast roll (whatever they were referred to on the menu). Perhaps if the menu was smaller the kitchen could concentrate more on the quality, rather than having to provide high quality for so many dishes. It also would have been nice to have coffee served more promptly.Disappointing to find this attached to a very worthwhile hotel.
Great food, setting and prices . Huge menu , very nice coffee . Good service . Free bottled water for table . Beerenberg spreads . Really surprised at the cheap meal options . Large cafe and ambience nice too . Can buy fresh flowers cheaply too . Only downside street parking at a minimum
Stayed overnight at the Swiss Belhotel and had breakfast in Café 63. Excellent menu, food was hot, tasty and filling. Arrived without delay. Would recommend.
Had dinner here while staying at Swiss Belhotel. Good menu with a large choice and reasonable prices.Staff were great and especially good to the children eating here. I think many of the children were from childrens hospital nearby or their families, so staff looked after them really well
Ample seating and spacious layout- makes for a laid back breakfast experience. For coffee lovers, order an extra shot as it's not the strongest coffee around. I had 'Mashed Avo with Poached Eggs on Salmon' which unfortunately came deconstructed. Everything was sitting isolated on a cold plate. See picture attached. Once I built my meal, it was well-balanced and a generous serving of salmon. My partner recommend the Cuba dish, the savoury mince was really tasty and the pouched eggs were cooked perfectly. Staff were very efficient and attentive.
