We discovered this gem on Google Maps while on our way back to London from a weekend in Norfolk, and we couldn't have been happier with our find. We are eager to return and even considering staying overnight. Many thanks to the fantastic team for their warm welcome and attentive care.
We were pleasantly surprised by our experience at The Three Hills. The food was exceptional, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was delightful. We especially enjoyed the extensive fish menu, as it is a specialty of the chef. The presentation of the food was exquisite and everything was delicious. Our server, Eleanor, was incredibly attentive, and we were happy to pay the optional 10% service charge included on the bill. The only slight negative was that the starter and dessert were so delicious that the main course seemed a bit lacking in comparison. However, if eaten separately, we are sure they would have been excellent. We highly recommend The Three Hills as a hidden gem in the Essex-Sussex borders. It is worth the drive.
We went to The Orangery for a Sunday roast with a group of adults and children. Overall, we had a good experience and would consider returning. The pros included delicious food that everyone enjoyed. The quality of the food has always been excellent during our previous visits. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive once they seated us. Two waitresses greeted us warmly and were charming. The setting and ambiance in The Orangery were lovely. However, there were some cons to our experience. We did not receive a welcome when we arrived on time, which made us feel uncomfortable. When we requested to be shown to our table, we were informed it wasn't ready and left standing in the entrance for about 12 minutes before being seated. There was a mix-up in the ordering system causing our starters to be delayed. We were given bread and olive oil to hold us over, but we were quite hungry by the time the starters arrived, approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes after our arrival.
We had a delicious Saturday lunch our first visit and definitely not our last. Food was superb and lovely, unhurried, very polite, friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to coming again in the New Year.
Had lunch here, excellent fish specials, great menu, splendid service. Thank you!
