The White Horse - South Gloucestershire

3 of us called in for lunch(for food go into the bar on the right,which is the dining area) We were the only ones eating as it is a quiet place,a bit out of the way. It was clean! The barmaid gave us a nice welcome. 2 of us had sausage/egg/chips and 1 ham,egg and chips,very nice it was too. Well cooked and plenty of it. First time we have been for at least 6 months,we will not leave it so long next time. We would recommend. We had soft drinks so cannot comment on beer,etc.

Wipe your feet on the way out. Its like a dirty front room. Visited before for food and only ate (nervously) as no other option to feed kids at time. Food v average. Visited again on sunny day to give benefit of doubt. Nope still a hole. No draft beer.

We stopped on a cycle ride. Unfortunately since I last visited they have stopped serving draft beers as apparently they were having to throw away to much. That said the bottled Doombar was very drinkable. We ate in the garden. Service at the bar and for food was friendly and helpful.

Can't believe how long it took to be served and then for our order to come out. Seemed ridiculous, surely rather than having a chat with the locals you should serve people after a hearty pub lunch. Woman was rude when finally bothered to take our order. Toilets could do with a good scrub too!

Have been to this pub for lunch a few times now, and it always delivers. Friendly, unpretentious, and serves excellent fresh food. Doesn't try to be too fancy, but concentrates on doing traditional pub grub very well tasty, keenly priced, and excellent portions. Highly recommended.
