We ordered 1 fish pie, 2 gammon dishes, and 2 roast chicken dishes at our table. The desserts we had were delicious. I appreciated that they use many local suppliers. The staff, despite being young, were excellent - nothing was too much trouble for them. My only complaint was the barking dogs we had to endure. The owners should have handled that better. However, I still think the overall experience was excellent and wouldn't lower my rating of the restaurant.
The menu offers a variety of options, the food is delicious, and the service is friendly. The quality of the food surpasses typical pub fare and could easily fit in at a high-end restaurant with elegant table settings. However, the overall experience was a bit odd as the food arrived quickly and there was no distinct pub or restaurant ambiance.
We traveled from Liverpool to visit my son and his family, who were staying at a lovely hall. As a treat for 8 of us, we booked a table at the White Hart. Upon arrival, we bought ourselves drinks as no one came to offer us any. It took some time to get the attention of the staff, who seemed more interested in chatting among themselves. The food was served with a lengthy delay, causing some of us to start eating before everyone was served to prevent the dishes from getting cold. Unfortunately, three of us found the fish pie to be inedible due to its high vinegar content, and four of us found the garlic potatoes accompanying the chicken supreme to be overly garlic-flavored. We informed our server, who spoke to the chef and offered to reorder, which we declined. The server offered a half-hearted apology. After reaching out to the manager via email, we were offered a free round of drinks on our next visit. However, none of us plan on returning as the experience really dampened what should have been a lovely family gathering.
Such a beautiful pub in a beautiful setting. Lovely friendly staff who were attentive and efficient. Perfect pub lunch with good-size portions too.
Disaster lunch. Lack of atmosphere, lack of heat, lack of comfort...ordered Ham ,egg and chips to be told not available due to lack of a chef, there was also a lack of sliced bread for sandwiches or toastie. When our food arrived the order was wrong so returned 1 dish, but both meals left alot to be desired. There was a lack of organisation and what looked like a lack of management. 2 glasses of wine we ordered given free did not compensate the poor experience, could not blame the staff, they were left to get on with it. And in the beginning to have to pay £6 to park my car in a potholed, hardcore car park, The whole set up at the estate needs attention. Its a good job we enjoyed the film at The Barn,at least it was warm. I now await a lack of response from any sort of management at this venue
