Yealm Yacht Club - South Hams

Chef Brett was very accommodating and worked with us to create a special and memorable day for our Silver Wedding Anniversary lunch. He prepared an amazing meal for 40 guests, which was of high quality, served hot, and very tasty. Our guests gave us many compliments on the food. The restaurant is located in a beautiful spot on the river Yealm, with both indoor and outdoor seating options, as well as a restaurant upstairs. The staff were attentive and ensured that the day, especially the food service, went smoothly. We want to thank everyone for such a fantastic day!

Since the arrival of new chef Brett at the end of 2020, the food at this restaurant has greatly improved. My first meal after a year of lockdown was the lamb pie, which was absolutely fantastic. This has become my favorite place to eat, even though I am very particular about food.

The seafood at this restaurant is exceptional, the best meal I've had in a while. It was cooked to perfection and could easily rival a top restaurant in London.

This is the first time we have visited with the new chef. Always had an amazing experience with the other chef and set up and was not disappointed with the changeover, friendly service, lovely food. The place has had a favourable facelift too. Good job.

We have been visiting Newton Ferrers for a number of years and about 4 years ago tried the Yacht club for dinner. It has now become a regular part of any visit to the area. John was the chef for many years and was excellent. When he left it was a bit patchy as the club tried different chefs. Visited in November and am delighted to report the new chef (a local chap) is very, very good. My spicy prawn starter was full of chillies and brilliant. Our main courses of Plaice and Venison showed real cooking skill. Highly recommend this restaurant but check that it is open for casual diners as being an integral part of the village it often hosts events which mean you can have a drink but not eat.
