Although this charming town is no longer directly on the highway, it is definitely worth taking a few extra kilometers to visit. The coffee and food at the quaint old shop are excellent, and the decor adds to the lovely atmosphere. South Johnstone, named after the river running through it, is still home to a functioning sugar mill that keeps the local pub bustling. In addition, there is a fantastic organic goods store and a top-notch butcher that specializes in traditional smoked smallgoods. After enjoying your coffee, be sure to take a stroll around the town to explore all it has to offer.
OK, it's not in Innisfail, but South Johnstone (setting for the movie, "All men are liars"), a quaint little cane town. Always stop here for good coffee when going between Tablelands and Townsville. Great coffee & food. Lovely conversation. Interesting locals-bit of an Alice's Restaurant. Some very interesting artworks of high quality on sale.
Great coffee and cakes along side a very quirky gallery. Well worth calling in along Cane Cutters Way
We where travelling around the cassowary coast on a day trip and we came across this quaint little café at South Johnstone and we fell in love with this little gem we will be back.10/10
