The staff were average, and a 10% service charge was included. Nonresidents are seated in an area outside the restaurant where it can be hard to receive service. The location is lovely during the day, but getting there at night can be challenging due to the lack of street lights. Overall, the experience may be better for hotel guests, but as a nonresident, I was very disappointed with the food and drinks.
My sister and I came for dinner last nightthe service was appalling. The waitresses( apart from the small dark haired one) were surly and silent, only coming to us if we signaled. Not one word was spoken ,.and when we asked to split the bill, the blonde waitress sighed impatiently and snatched the bill back, clearly finding this request just too much. The food was lovely but spoilt by the rude staff. Food drinks: I think I’ve said it all. Service: 1
We absolutely love this place as we do The Grand at Lytham. Pure luxury and our room with our private terrace was beautiful. Lovely relaxing weekend for us both and we will definitely return Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5
3 night stay. Lovely lady at desk when we first arrived and showed us to our room. After this we never saw anyone at reception again. Room appeared nice but drains in shower room were blocked so ended up like a swimming pool, water practically running out into bedroom. Service at breakfast awful. 40 minute wait for food. Staff unfriendly and and surly when manager not around. Shown to dining table first morning in front of manager then next day when she wasn 't there told to 'go and find table yourselves '. Handed room key back this morning after searching for staff member and received a grunt from him in reply. Room had beautiful view and bed very comfy but definitely not worth the money. Horrible atmosphere in dining room/bar so avoided them and ate dinner elsewhere. Much nicer, more reasonably priced hotels in grasmere. Would not stay at 'grand ' again.
Our trip to the UK this summer was one of the best parts of our vacation. Unfortunately, the Lake District portion didn't go as planned due to a bad fracture I had before arriving. However, the hotel more than made up for it! The manager was extremely helpful and resolved any issues promptly. The staff, from Claudio at reception to Dibvega in the restaurant, were all considerate and went out of their way to assist us. The Fell View Suite we stayed in was spacious and the view from the property was stunning. The restaurant served delicious food, particularly the seafood. The location was convenient, with Grasmere being walkable from the hotel. Although there is no elevator, the one-floor hotel is clearly stated on their website. Overall, I highly recommend staying at this beautiful hotel if visiting Windermere or Grasmere in the future.
