The Holiday Inn East Kilbride, located in a remote area, led us to dine at the hotel to avoid driving and enjoy a bottle of wine together. Our starters included a burger and a mixed grill. The burger was tasty, but the accompanying fries were disappointing. The mixed grill was overcooked beyond my requested rare temperature. The mayonnaise for the fries was served in individual sachets, reminiscent of fast food. For dessert, we ordered a sticky toffee pudding sundae and a plum and cherry strudel. The sticky toffee pudding lacked stickiness and was not served as a sundae as expected. The filling of the strudel was decent, but the pastry was too chewy. The service was mixed - the waitress was good, but the young apprentice had room for improvement, leaving debris on the table, forgetting fresh napkins with new cutlery, and not allowing us enough time to respond to their half-hearted inquiry about our satisfaction. The TV at the bar initially showed football but switched to an awkward program, leaving us uncomfortable during our meal. Overall, I would recommend skipping the restaurant at this hotel and opting for a taxi to East Kilbride Village nearby instead.
I had breakfast and dinner here. On both occasions service was pretty lax, no real management of the staff and quite slow. On the plus side, the food at dinner was excellent perfectly cooked veg and salmon. Breakfast food was decent enough, standard HI fare.
Visited this restaurant which is part of the Holiday Inn, East Kilbride and there was NO-ONE there when we arrived at 7.30 pm on a Saturday evening, which really surprised us. Okay the Glasgow Commonwealth games were on but we would have expected some guests. The waitress then asked if we had booked before showing us to a table. I guess that she was just checking because someone must have made a reservation. By the time we left, there were at least three other tables occupied which must have left about 20 odd empty, so lacking in atmosphere. The food was delicious, we had the chef's full attention and the glasses of wine were very fine, but the price is a bit steep for the smallish portions, over £51 for 2 main courses and two glasses of wine, no coffees or starters but we were not hungry to begin with, which was just as well but I think it lacked value for money. Linen tablecloths and napkins and clean glasses, so some boxes ticked but I think more suited to business and functions rather than a pleasant relaxing meal out.
I ate here just the other day and I think it is now called 'seasons ' it is the restaurant attached to the holiday inn. The food whilst good was very slow to arrive when there were literally 4 or 5 other tables. I would not like to wait when the restaurant is full!! She servers were polite but I would only suggest eating there if you are staying at the hotel like we were) and don 't fancy going out on a cold January night. I can 't say it was goo value for money either. £23 for a steak that comes with 1/2 a tomato and a few mushrooms is pushing it!
