Visited the Clydesdale on our last day in Scotland and the food and service was fantastic! Had an early dinner and will not need to eat again for the rest of the day!
I had a rather disappointing experience at The Clydesdale Inn in Lanark. The outside temperature was in the mid-20s, and despite having air conditioning in the room, we were told it couldn't be switched on. To make matters worse, the windows didn't open, creating an extremely warm and uncomfortable environment with over 30 people in the room. What was particularly frustrating was the lack of concern from the staff. We were informed that we couldn't open the fire doors due to regulations, which I know, as a business owner myself, is more of a recommendation than an actual breach. It felt like the management and staff could have made more effort to ensure the comfort of their customers, especially in such uncomfortable conditions. Overall, this experience left a lot to be desired, and I hope that The Clydesdale Inn considers its customers' comfort and well-being more seriously in the future.
At the moment, I find the steps to be very painful and a part of the corridor was dimly lit. Without sturdy handrails, I felt vulnerable. The handrail leading from the street to the door needs to be replaced. However, the food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the waiter/barman was efficient. The menu selection is comparable to other places in Lanark. Unfortunately, the table surface was scratched and in poor condition. It would be a good idea to cover it with a cloth or paper cloth. It didn't appear clean. The cost per person is typically between £10 and £20.
