The service was top-notch, with attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. The food was delicious and priced reasonably.
Given the over £500 we paid for our meal, we felt that it was poor value for money. We have had better dining experiences at nearby restaurants that cost significantly less. Additionally, the restaurant was fairly empty on a Friday evening, which leads me to believe that other patrons may have also noticed a decline in quality. As a result, I don't foresee us returning to the French Horn anytime soon.
I recently had the most disappointing restaurant meal of my life when my son and my daughter-in-law took me to the French horn to celebrate my birthday. I was really looking forward to an excellent meal as the French horn had such a good call. but the kalbs I chose for my main course was so hard that I could hardly cut, let alone eating it. all the main courses cost to exclude sweet and kartomas, but both the choices of my son and the daughter-in-law were small and not very good. my son and I chose both the chocolate and chestnut pudding, which was absolutely tiny and very disappointing, although my son had ordered an expensive bottle of wine to celebrate my birthday, a very fierce bill was presented at the end of the evening. despite my daughter-in-law and I complained about my hard calf, no credit was made on the bill and we received no apology. I wrote to the manager some days later to express my disappointment and dissatisfaction, but not even the courtesy of a response. All-in-all, an evening that should be a celebration, turned out to be a great disappointment. such a scandal when it was in such a beautiful situation and when we had memories of very successful events when my man lived.
The service was good and the wine was pleasant. Unfortunately, eating was not on our taste. the restaurant seems to provide customers with very traditional taste that, while I am sure that many people enjoy, unfortunately not quite hit the place for us. that is not a critique of itself. from our visit it was clear that the restaurant has a very faithful customer base and what is desired works very well. Unfortunately it was simply not for us, and it would be inconspicuous to say that we really enjoyed the meal.
We haven't been in the French horn since a while and have booked it for our Christmas dinner. it was fabulous, amazing table with views of the river delicious eating. elegant friendly staff. the menu was exceptional with the prawns and the cream brûlée...his highlights, but the atmosphere is what would be hard to beat, nothing was too much annoyed. many thanks to michael and the whole team and we will come back soon.
