Hometown Buffet - South Portland

I found this restaurant to be quite good for the price. Usually, I avoid buffets, but today I was in a hurry and didn’t have many options for a quick meal, so I decided to give this place a try. The food was decent—nothing extraordinary, but at $10.19 for lunch and $2.99 for a 6oz steak, you can't be too picky. The salad bar had a lot of fresh and crispy greens. The restaurant was impeccably clean, with no unpleasant odors or steamy air from the kitchen like you often find in buffets. Most importantly, the staff was very professional and attentive to customer needs. Zulma went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I’ll definitely return whenever I’m in the area.

The affordable prices don’t compromise the quality of the food. While it’s not the finest dining experience, you can definitely find decent dishes here. The variety offered is impressive. I found the meatloaf to be particularly delicious! Our waitress, who has been with the restaurant for 10 years, was friendly without being too pushy and took great care of us.

Despite some unfavorable reviews, I decided to take my mom for dinner on a Thursday night. The food was above average; while I didn't enjoy every dish, there were plenty that I did, especially the desserts. Our server was very professional and polite, and all the staff I interacted with were excellent! I signed up for their online "club" in advance and used a BOGO coupon, so I couldn't have asked for a better deal. The decor could use some updates or even a remodel, but the entire place was clean! We will definitely return, and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
