My cheese omelette was rather bland. The sweet potato, in lieu of hash browns or grits, was pretty darn good.Coffee was just okay. This is a terribly outdated diner/restaurant. A throw back to the 70’s. Bar stools were quite worn. Not the cleanest of joints. Utensils, while metal, felt as light as plastic. They did, however. Compliment the plastic dishes. While inexpensive, I would gladly pay a few dollars more for tastier food and nicer ambiance. You do get what you pay for.
Delightful. Friendly, no frills, just great breakfast at a great price!
This was my first time at Carrousel. I am soon moving to Sarasota. It was great! It 's the Cheers of diners. The staff and customers know each other by name and I felt welcomed. The food is just right. Perfect portions. Excellent prices. Will be a regular for sure.
That sat us at 11:23am, without a fuss even though they close at 11:30am, which was respectable. They do close at 11:30 strictly though. This is a Basic and Simple Diner Breakfast. The best part is how fast and how cheap the food is. Don’t expect anything beyond that and you won’t be disappoint. The staff are sensible and professional. Just don’t expect them to be your best friend. They are working hard and they are on their feet. This is a reliable local breakfast place. It has work-class charm and an unpretentious comfort to the vibe. They had no avocado as a side option , but they did offer poached eggs, which is a nice healthy bonus. I’m grateful for the poached eggs.Took a risk and tried the corn beef hash as a side. Nice modest portion and it was tasty. Mixed it in with my two poached eggs and enjoyed it with a lovely tasty side salad that was not over-Dressed. The lettuce they used was quality which I appreciate it. They don’t use Romain or iceberg lettuce for their salads. I’m so pleased about this. There’s definitely way to a healthy clean eating meal there. They didn’t have fresh salsa, but they did have bottled Cholula hot sauce.Great place to grab an analog newspaper before you go and sit by yourself and eat breakfast. Or do some reading. It felt like a real East Coast Diner.
We discovered this place by accident on our first trip to Sarasota 3 years ago when we dropped our daughter off at college. Since then, this has become our go to breakfast spot every morning while visiting our daughter. The staff are very friendly and we look forward to our breakfast there while vacationing. Looking forward to our next visit this week.
