Comfortable bar area, pub clearly two or three hundred years old. Not too noisy/busy for a cosy chat. Relaxing way to spend an hour or two. We’ll definitely be back when next in the area.
Had nice couple glasses of wine with pizza and lasagne which was absolutely delicious. Just like homemade. One of the best I've had actually Compliments to the chef and bar staff. Nice welcome and chat.
Lovely pub with good atmosphere great cider but not currently doing food. Nice seating outside lovely decor inside.
We called in on spec for a drink or two and partaken of the Cider. It was a sunny day so we sat outside and watch the world go by, albeit at a slower pace in the lovely old town. Ordering and payment was effortless and the drinks were brought straight to our table. Clearly a popular pub with the locals and a prime location in town.
The locals, when asked 'What 's good ' chorused 'Doombar! ' which most of them seemed to be drinking so, knowing I wasn 't getting the first one out of the line, even though it 's not a beer high on my 'Likes ' board, I ordered a pint. Good choice, the ale was in excellent condition. The pub is on the Cask Marque Ale Trail, and really, ALL the beers on offer should be drawn off and equally presentable. I have noticed on early lunch time visits however, this has been a mixed experience. The certificate of accreditation, was unearthed (not yet deployed after a recent paint job) in good order and scanned without trouble good wi fi here. The pub is very Olde Worlde and despite clearly having a recent TLC session, retains many of the original features. The same can be said for the gaggle of regulars, settling down for their lunch time session garrulous and convivial, the banter and jokes were amusing. Worth more than another visit.
