The Lab Espresso Bar

We had such a great time here! Perfect place for morning tea, or even a light lunch gathering - easy parking and access, toilets down the hall, and more importantly a wonderful range of good honest food well-prepared from which to choose. We decided to give our diners the choice of fresh scones or raisin toast, and beverage of their choice. That allowed Brendan and Kellie to prepare ahead. After our minibuses arrived we almost took over the inside dining area for morning tea. It's warm, welcoming, comfortable in a spare design that emphasises how light and clean everything is. It's cheerful, like the staff. The scones were served with tiny glass beakers of whipped cream and berry jam. (I should have thought to grab a pic!) Barely a crumb remained on the plates. The hot chocolate was rich, smooth and sickly-sweet. The coffees (mainly cappuccinos) were pronounced excellent. The tea (English Breakfast) was 'refreshing'.The raisin bread was fresh, toast to perfection, and the spices smelt so heart-warming as the aroma blended with the coffee perfumes. A couple of our ladies thought they were back in Europe!This really is a lovely, unfussy place to visit where the staff truly care about their food and their diners. Let them know your needs, they'll work to find a delicious solution. Note they're not open on Sundays.

Was early for an appointment nearby so called in for a coffee and a nibble. Ordered the Iced Coffee and a Crushed Avocado on Turkish Bread with Pesto - what a treat! Staff are lovely. Service is quick and the Lab presentation of drinks is clever. Will definitely stop here again!

Great coffee, excellent food, friendly service - a cool new oasis in Runaway Bay. This just may be my new local for a coffee break.

Well what can I say, fantastic food, great atmosphere and friendly service. If you luv a great coffee then it's a must when visiting the Northern end of the Gold Coast. Contemporary and Modern Decor make it a joy, to sit and enjoy a great coffee or one of the many homemade tasty treats on offer from this Husband & Wife duo. Keep up the hard work and well done. Looking forward to my morning coffees.

I visited Lab Espresso Bar for lunch. I ordered a vegetarian Turkish. Combination of sweet potato, zucchini, cheese and pesto, slightly toasted it was delicious. I also ordered an ice coffee. It came in a science beaker which was very cool. So nice to have something different than the overused mason jar! The cafe itself has been fitted out in a sciencey theme. Simple but very effective black and white decor... very funky. The service was fantastic and fast and there is ample parking. You can choose to sit inside in the air conditioning or outside. Definitely worth a visit. Great spot for locals!
