One of our customers said that these do a Sunday lunch so we decided to try them out and what a terrible mistake that was. We got 2 large roast beef dinners for delivery and when they arrived they took just under 2hrs. the portions were small, the selection of vegetables where peas, carrots, cabbage and mashed potato. The actual beef was overcooked and was like chewing old leather, the Yorkshire puddings tasted like they had been sitting in an old Yorkshire pudding tray. I had to phone the Marsden inn on three separate occasions to ask where my food was got told there was a slight delay yes we know this can happen so left it there. Then we had to phone back after an hour to ask where my food was and got told it was out for delivery then I phones again after waiting another 40 minutes after they said to me it was out for delivery. We will certainly NOT be using this restaurant again as it was a waist of £18. Even my mother's Sunday lunches are better than this lunch
The staff at this restaurant are lovely, and you can't beat the great breakfast they offer at an amazing value. The room is clean with beautiful sea views, and the drinks are cheap. The staff go above and beyond to accommodate you. I definitely recommend this place.
We were looking for a pub lunch on a rainy, dreary bank holiday and were surprised to find that some of our usual spots no longer served food, or only offered Sunday lunches. Perhaps this is a sign of the times. Luckily, we found the Marsden Inn, located just a mile away from the finish line of the Great North Run, was serving meals. The exterior has a Tudor-like appearance and inside, there is a dark entrance with a vacant restaurant on the left and a large bar and lounge on the right. We chose to dine in the lounge next to the pool tables, where we encountered two issues – sticky floors and tables. The interior is quite gloomy in terms of color scheme and style, with a few patrons enjoying drinks and background music playing (later replaced by football on the TVs). The lone barmaid seemed overwhelmed, attending to both the Inn's residents and taking bar and food orders. The menu offered a variety of options at reasonable prices. We ordered the sausage and mash and the fish bites with chips and didn't have to wait long for our hot meals to arrive. Unfortunately, the first fish bite we tried contained bones, but the rest were bone-free and both dishes were excellent in quality and portion size. The Inn has a large car park and outdoor seating, and we heard that their Sunday lunches are also great value. Despite a few minor issues and personal preferences, we would definitely consider returning.
Generally this hotel was OK but.....I needed to get up early because I start work at 7.30. Unfortunately there was live entertainment on in the bar. This was so loud that the sound was reverberating up though my bedroom floor. This went on until 10.45pm. I initially asked that the volume could be lowered, which it was, a bit, but I'm sure that the entertainer kept tweaking up the volume until it was as loud as ever. Not impressed.
