We came for lunch, party of 3, no problem getting seated. Very prompt service. Great menu of breakfast and lunch items.
My wife and I arrived to a busy, late morning crowd. The hostess informed us to find our own table (two sections of dining . Let me start with the chaos: The table we found was so low we could not get our legs under neath. We looked for another table which we share with a group of 4 people. Our waiter was responsive to our arrival. As I watched I noticed he was taking orders to the other dining area section (my understanding is a server should be able to focus on one section of the dining area . Two of the wait staff had Betsy's Crepes t shirts; the other had street clothes (made it difficult to tell who worked there The woman putting the orders together to be sent out to the tables was wearing a tank top shirt (reaching over food just sayin' . The Organized Part: The food did arrive in a timely manner and was satisfactory. I had the Parfait crepe and some scrambled eggs w/bacon. Bacon was thin and crispy the way bacon should be. Our waiter showed hustle and was still able to be attentive to us. This establishment could be one of the premier places in Southern Pines. Great ambiance. At a minimum, when we walk into a busy restaurant the hostess should have a handle on who is sitting where and letting people know how long of a wait they have. Wait staff shouldn't be serving food to all corners of the restaurant.
Got the feeling we all were being rushed. They cared nothing about turning a table. Spent over $30.00 for two and they feel the need to charge $1.00 for a few pieces of extra red onion to be added to my New Yorker Crepe (Salmon), which had very little taste and stingy on the red onions and capers. Now I can understand what folks are talking about when they say how it's declining.
If you are in the area you definitely need to visit Betsy's Crepes. A charming building and atmosphere. Each time we have visited the restaurant has been full, but each time we have been seated quickly. The service is top notch. So many unique crepes to choose from. Other breakfast items plus lunch menu is also available. The coffee was fresh and hot. We are from out of town but make this a definite stop when we are in town visiting family.
