Having tasted authentic Filipino cuisine before, I can confidently say that there are not many restaurants in Queensland that nail the flavors like Kubo does. This establishment truly captures the essence of Filipino food with their impeccable dishes. The presentation always brings me back to the Philippines, and the prices are quite reasonable. The staff is incredibly warm and friendly, adding to the overall dining experience. Their crispy pata is a standout dish, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
The Filipino restaurant is situated in Chinatown in Central Southport. We decided to try their pancit, a mixed noodle dish, and grilled chicken skewers. The pancit was delicious, but the skewers were undercooked and could have used a few more minutes on the grill. My wife also had a halo-halo for dessert and this time, they had my favorite Filipino beer, San Miguel Lite, which was not available during our previous visit.
We were recommended by local friends to visit this Filipino Restaurant chain which has branches in Coorparoo and Southport. We couldn’t get to the Brisbane branch so tried their Gold Coast branch. Easy to reach by GLink tram by exiting at Southport Station and walking a few minutes through Chinatown. Ambiance is quite casual with many Filipinos dining here. Dishes we shared included Crispy Pata Fried Pork Knuckle) Swordfish Kilawin ceviche) and pancit noodles) We over ordered so we would have leftovers for lunch the next day No negatives as the food was delicious.
Food is really good but the people who took care of us during my birthday stands out. Thank you Joe for your prompt service and enthusiasm in what you do. You deserved to be recognized.
