This is a pub I used to frequent during my work in the area, enjoying their craft beer selection from Gipsy Hill or Thornbridge paired with a delicious midday meal like their aben ciabatta. The impressive building dominates the corner of Borough Market, attracting many tourists on a cold, sunny Sunday. The pub was busy with a mix of high and short tables for dining, and I enjoyed a refreshing Big Drop Citra beer. The history of the Southwark Tavern dates back to the 1800s when it was a debtor prison, now transformed into a charming pub. Despite the touristy vibe, it is definitely worth a visit.
Beautiful, friendly, busy traditional pub, serves a great selection of beers, camps and apple wine. as real ale trinker I was impressed by the selection and quality. delicious home cooked food also, and reasonable price. very enjoyed the visit, so friendly friendly staff, and look forward to the return in the next in london. highly recommended.
I really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant and brought a friend from the USA to show them some cool local spots. The location near the market was great, and the interior was beautiful and airy with some lovely old features like colored windows. It was busy but not too crowded on a Saturday afternoon, so we were able to get a table easily. My friend's nachos were delicious with big bubbles of cheese, not the usual store-bought kind. My cod and chips snack was tasty, and I enjoyed some pints of sharp Aspall cider, which was a very nice drink.
This is a great corner pub! It's the perfect spot to enjoy a pint after work or later in the evening. It can get crowded at times, so if there's a line, just hang out for a bit and you'll be seated soon enough. There are indoor and outdoor seating options, and the prices are reasonable for the area. They have some snacks available, but most people come here for the drinks. I ordered a pint of Peroni, a Guinness, and a gin and tonic.
Was looking for a place to meet with friends in central London, we are on holiday from Australia and wanted a cool place to have beers and this was recommended to us. We had a great night, team were very friendly and the range of beers were great loving the Camden Pale, we sat down stairs which had a great atmosphere and we could all catch up. Great pub strongly recommend.
