Overall, the food was outstanding. I ordered the crab cake special, and it was among the best crab cakes I've ever tasted. My partner had the fried chicken sandwich, which was also a hit. The smashed potatoes and biscuits were fantastic, although the roasted cauliflower was a bit undercooked and overly dressed with a sauce that lacked flavor. The prices were reasonable, and we appreciated that they were open during the off-season! As for the atmosphere, I would suggest dimming the lights a bit—it’s quite bright, and lowering them could easily add a touch of coziness and warmth.

Now, let's talk about the food. The fish and chips were fantastic, but the crab cakes were the standout dish for us. While we didn't get the chance to try the fried chicken, we’re definitely planning to return for that, especially since the owner, Ryan, who was incredibly nice and laid-back, hails from Georgia—it must be delicious! They also occasionally serve lobster in the summer, which is another reason to come back. Overall, the restaurant has a wonderful local vibe, making it the best spot in this small town. We absolutely loved our experience!

The view is nice, the service nonexistent and the food mediocre at best. I was hoping for more than an aioli heavy fried hamburger and two smashed undercooked new potatoes. They were out of fish and chips, maybe I should be glad they were. Very disappointed

Hands down the best food on the Mount Desert Island. Peter Trout's is serving and giving alllll the flavor (that often times a lot of Maine restaurants are missing). An absolute must visit: 10/10 food, atmosphere, quick service, drinks. you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, seriously.
