The Golden City - Spalding

I placed an order online through the Bigfoodie platform with the expectation of having my meal delivered. However, I ended up having to collect it instead. Unfortunately, the food was not ready at the specified collection time and I had to wait for an additional 10-15 minutes. The quality of the food was mediocre, with the ribs being very fatty and the fried rice seeming to have more peas than rice, which I did not enjoy. Overall, the meal was nothing special and did not live up to the praise it had received from others. I may have been influenced by my fond memories of when the old owner, Tom, ran Spalding's first Chinese restaurant.

We had a disappointing meal at this restaurant. The tasteless half duck seemed to be from a duckling considering the small portion size. The pancakes were cold and stuck together. This was our first and last time dining at this establishment. The food was for takeout, and it was for dinner. The price per person ranged from £30 to £40.

Fantastic service and great food. A friend and I went for dinner last night and we so impressed with the fast service. Food was great too and the house wine was nice. This is the best Chinese restaurant in town with a friendly and welcoming staff. The service is excellent and the food is always freshly cooked. Perfect for a dinner outing, expect to spend around £50-60 per person.

Tried The Golden City for the first time last weekend and everything was fantastic. The staff were friendly and approachable and the food was the best Chinese food I have had in a long time. I even brought home a few leftovers for the next day and I never do that, even with a takeaway! Excellent social distancing measures in place as well and we felt perfectly safe from the moment we entered. Service: Dine in
