Now, I enjoyed this pizza. Here we have a thin crust, square cut, pub style pizza. I have never been a big fan of the square cut pizzas, but this pizza was worth the sacrifice. I enjoyed every bite. They also offer up a deep dish style that looks delicious.Plus, they do a gluten free crust option. I'm told it's good.
Overall experience here, I hope, was a fluke. After hearing some unneeded coworker shaming and sitting for about ten mins without so much as a hello, our order was hastily taken as the chairs of other tables were being stacked around us. We rushed through and didn 't finish anything we ordered in the allotted time we were given, Uh.. we close at 8. Bland caeser to start, but the garlic jalapeño bread thing was phenomenal. The pizza was okay but I had to eat it at home along with our dessert calzones that even though we 're of different fruits, we 're essentially made with the same ingredients. Finished our drinks on the walk out the door.We got there at 7 and should have had plenty of time and not felt rushed.Honestly, not worth $130 for 2 people to feel rushed and neglected. In no rush to return.
First time visit. The offer of a Chicago style deep dish pizza is what drew us to Mamma Celeste's. So that's what we ordered and a small cucumber crunch salad. The cucumber crunch salad was delicious. The veggies were fresh and the vinegaret dressing was oh so good. The pizza had all of the components for a great Chicago style deep dish pizza but just one item made it fall short. The red sauce, good. The toppings good. The depth of the pizza, good. The crispy outside crust, good. The bottom crust, not so good. The bottom pizza dough was no thicker than a regular pizza. If the bottom crust would have been 3/4 thick, then it would have been nirvana.Service good.Atmosphere was lively.Parking sucked.
We tried for the first time as so many friends were raving. My mother in law treated so was grateful. Maybe I’m too much of a critique but coming from a family who had a very exclusive 5 star restaurant in San Francisco I was disappointed. My pizza margarita was nothing traditional. Sauce tasted like it came from a can and the dough super thick. Ordered a glass of Chianti to go with it. Mind you I didn’t confirm which of the two they poured but when tasted it was like a desert wine. Was brown and the foam even browner. Told the waitress it didn’t taste right so asked for the upgraded glass $5.00 to $15.00/glass). I know the different between both brands as I have had both) and the 2nd glass tasted the same as the first. I sent that back and could not believe when the bill came they charged 50% of a glass…both in which I never drank. When questioning the server she said that was a “thing” and to look out on the menu if you don’t think something. My family was happy with what they had not to mention with the beer but I’m just saying from my point of you and if you were to order wine, I don’t believe you’re getting what you’re served or it’s just old and not treated well. Service was questionable as they never checked in with us to see how things were not to mention that I took 30 minutes longer to get our food than most normal pizza restaurants perhaps it’s just a new thing they’re trying to figure out but in my opinion, I would not go back.
