The Beacon Drive-in - Spartanburg

The food was excellent, and you definitely get your money's worth. The iced tea was also fantastic!

I stopped by for a bit of nostalgia since I attended college in Spartanburg. It's a great greasy drive-in.

My team of 20 was in the area working for Asplundh, and we decided to grab breakfast at Beacons before starting our day. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff was friendly, even with a large group of us. I spoke with Steve during our visit, and I have no complaints about the experience at all.

This place was like a fever dream. It operated in a manor I haven't seen since I was a child. The main guy takes your order and then literally shouts it at the grill. Not even into a microphone, just repeating the order in like a JROTC Sgt. Maj. would talk to you, not yelling, just projecting their voice efficiently and loudly! you move down an elementary school style cafeteria line and easily rack up your bill with things like pork rinds and dessert. You get your drink (you get sweet tea btw, you COULD order something else but why bother? then.. lo and behold.. you see something that I can only describe as a nick at night Andy Griffith parody. A Law Enforcement Officer is behind the counter ringing up the orders. Just volunteering of course. I still don't quite understand why they do it, maybe it's a long standing tradition or something but the guy was real nice and was a great experience!

Always brings back memories of fishing trips with Dad. Parking: It was parkerrific!
