Okoboji Brewing Company - Spirit Lake

Everything was sold out during my visit, and there was an odd smell in the air. The parking lot was muddy, but the atmosphere had potential. However, it definitely needs some improvements. I won't be returning anytime soon.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of beers, featuring several house brews alongside numerous options from Iowa. We've been here a few times, and it seems like at least one or two of their own taps are often unavailable. This might be due to our visits coinciding with busy major holidays in the area. We haven't tried their food truck at Farm to Fork yet, but the waitress had great things to say about it. Additionally, you can grab a Papa Murphy's pizza from next door and bake it in the brewery's oven.

The service left much to be desired. They had only two of their own beers on tap, and several other options were sold out. The staff member on duty was unfriendly and didn’t acknowledge us; when we tried to strike up a conversation, his responses were minimal. Overall, this experience was disappointing.

Featuring around 20 taps and a rotating list of craft beers, Okoboji Brewing Company is without a doubt one of the best places in the Iowa Great Lakes area to drink good beer. Not only do they have one of the biggest selections of beer in town, they easily carry the widest range of styles. From Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts,dank, hoppy IPA's, sour beers, and even easy to drink lagers, they have a beer for everyone (even a couple of hard ciders or NA soft drinks for people who don't like beer). In the summer there is often a food trunk in the parking lot featuring a great menu, but if they are not there you can bring anything you want along to eat or drop by next door to grab a pizza at Papa Murphy's, and OBC will cook it for you. I enjoyed stopping here. The owner was very friendly and the beer selection is fantastic. I definitely plan on going back to check out some of their newer beers. A great place to meet friends and unwind.
