First of all, it was quite pricey! Secondly, the service was disappointing. Our waitress was absent for 90% of the time, which led to us receiving the wrong order and not getting our drinks. We also had to wait a long time just to place our order. On a positive note, the food came out quickly, but it was served by someone who wasn't our waitress, and she was the one who attended to our refills and other requests. Lastly, the food itself was just average for a bar.
As indicated by my 3-star rating, this restaurant is just okay—not quite 5-star quality. I ordered the two-piece fried cod dinner, and I found the coating to be a bit soft. The dish came with two potato pancakes that filled about two-thirds of the plate, but unfortunately, the pancakes were extremely mushy and not crispy at all. I ended up leaving about one and a third of them untouched. The person sitting next to me had the chili and remarked, "Well, it certainly isn't homemade." I might consider giving The Cabin another chance, but I’m not sure I want to spend any more money there. There are plenty of better restaurants down the road in Antioch that I could try instead.
Avoid breakfast at this place! It was disappointing! I ordered the #2, which was supposed to be plain bacon with poached eggs. I was supposed to receive three eggs but only got two, and they were overcooked and waterlogged. The bacon potatoes were greasy and undercooked. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy, but the biscuit was so tough he had to cut through it. We ended up not eating it and when we paid the bill, no one even asked why we didn't finish our meals.
Good atmosphere, I used to come here 25 years ago....not too much has changed. Except, for the food. Hopefully it was just our selection. I had the CBLT, served on Texas toast it was less than spectacular. Definitely like the toast but I'll never orderAmerican cheese on a BLT again. Wife ordered a Chicago dog, which I raised my eyebrows at, only because this far away from thecity you just never know what you're going to get. They didn't disappoint.....my way unfortunately. I would literally beembarrassed to serve that. First, it came out plain and then it came back..... well, plain bun, no celery salt and I'd almostbet it wasn't even a Vienna sausage. It literally looked like someone vomited on the dog. Hopefully you guys will step up yourgame a little. Service was really good.
