Soht Aroy - St Albans

I have been a patron of The Goat for over twenty years, and it is a fantastic pub in its own right. However, what has made it even better recently is the addition of the Soht Aroy Thai restaurant. The food is all homemade and rivals that of any high-quality Thai restaurant, but at a much more affordable price. I have dined here multiple times with different groups of friends, and they have all been impressed. In fact, we are planning to meet up again over Christmas for another Thai meal. Some may complain about slow service and meals arriving at different times, but this is because it is one chef preparing everything from scratch. Remember, this is a pub, not a luxury restaurant, and the delicious food speaks for itself. Don't let that deter you, give it a try.

We have been to The Goat pub multiple times, but have only dined at Soht Aroy Thai restaurant twice. After our recent experience, we will not be returning. During our last visit about six months ago, we waited over an hour and a half for our food to be served. However, when it finally arrived, it was delicious (we ordered the taster menu). This time, we waited over an hour for our food to be served again (with a lackluster apology from the waitress, who we found to be quite rude overall). When the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and cold. We were very disappointed and upset (considering walking out), as there are many other restaurants we enjoy within walking distance, and we would have preferred to go to one of those instead.

This is the best Thai food I've ever had. It's definitely worth a try - excellent value for money. You'll definitely be coming back for more.

We wandered into this pub late one night and were astounded by the number of games available. And what was more, everyone seemed to be taking full advantage of them.

I always get drawn back to this place. Its full of character, charm and history. The service is genuine and friendly. The real ales are superb and the little nooks and crannies make it a great place to catch up with friends and family. We didnt eat but the Thai based food looked amazing and we intend to go back. A great pub, a proper pub.
