Socrates Restaurant - St. Albert

This was the third time we have met my older aunt and uncle here for lunch as it is a short drive from their residence and easy to get to. The wait staff is always welcoming , the meals are delicious and the price is right. Highly recommended

Just because you give unnecessary large portions doesn’t make the food good. Mexican breakfast bowl was not good! Canned beans, unmelted cheese and they forgot the avocado. Go someplace else.

I usually visit this restuarant with my family and in the past have enjoyed my meal. Today I was completely disgusted . I ordered the steak sandwich and was not impressed. The steak was chewy and stringy and after trying to eat it I gave up. I mentioned it to the waitress who was nice about it and reported it to the kitchen or owner . I drank the coffee and ate some fries but was not in the mood to eat after that. On receiving my bill was surprised to see it was the same price and the only deduction was the coffee. I can see paying for the coffee and fries but as I did not and could not eat the steak that should have been deducted. Very poor customer service from the owner . Dont know if I shall go there again after this.

Wow, what a sad day it was. My first venture out into the restaurant world after months and one of my fave restaurants in St. Albert is now a place I will likely never go again. I was so excited for their veggie breakfast burrito as a vegetarian it was such an amazing option for me. I was promptly told that the menu had slimmed down and it would never be back. The overwhelmed waitress stated that it was because “everything was packaged now” what?! She gave us some super watery coffee, and came back 45 mins later to take our order (there was only a few people in the restaurant . What i got was the eggs benny (no hollondaise sauce, just slathered in cheddar cheese? no extra avocado (yet they tried to charge me for it , and French toast which was not really French toast it was kinda just toasted bread slathered in some Nutella. The worst part was the syrup had gone bad, it was hard and crunchy like toffee and wouldn’t pour or spread. We felt so bad for the overwhelmed waitress that we just tried not to complain too much. All in all it was 2 hours of our Saturday. We work hard for our money too.. we were eager to pay and to tip for something we’d waited months for... not be disappointed and leave hungry. Socrates was not ready to open, and should not be open.
