I come to East Side because of value and consistency in food. When I arrived, the hostess... I and gave ne a menu and another card that lists some specials. One of them was the Italian soda. For $3.99 you can drink everything, either a berry aroma or stone fruit. I ordered stone fruit. It was very nice, so a refill was ordered. When the bill came, I calculated the full price for both drinks. I pointed this out to the server, they went and came back, showing a reduction in drinks costs, but still showing both drinks. I asked about it and was told to the manager that the Specialdid did not apply on Wednesday. I have instructed them to show me where that was said and why give me a card that offers everything you can drink. She went back to the manager and the two. Drink was removed. This should never happen and so a pleasant meal experience was ruined. When I left, I noticed a big sign at the entrance advertisement bthe aycd italian so, no mention that are not available on Wednesday. So I have to wonder how many were accused.
Too bad East Side Mario isn't what they used to be. The Ceasar salad was wet and tasteless and made with iceberg salad and not romaine. It tasted as if they were just washing the salad and then watered Ceasar Dressing to him. The best part of the salad was the crumbs. My wife had the garden salad, not much better. The same irrigated taste and soggy iceberg salad. My wife had the chicken tetrazzini, unfortunately it had only two pieces of chicken in it, not more than 3 ounces, maybe. She didn't like her court, she said it was tasteless and disappointing. She said the best part of her whole meal was the bread they did not refill. Together with our drinks to get wrong a few times and wait for the service what seemed like an eternity, especially since we had a 3yr old one with us. My meal was okay, but not as good as before. They didn't have the veal so I replaced it with chicken, but the vegetables came mostly raw and the chicken bread was so overgrown that I could taste it for hours after my meal. I'm not sure if they don't care anymore or there are no good cooks, but East Side Mario's is a mica from there. We probably haven't come back for years, or we forget this terrie food. Go to Bellisimo downtown St. John's. They make Italy much better. We paid our bill, but don't leave a tip. It looks like East Side Mario doesn't care about quality control, just high table tops.
We had the biggest server in this place today! Her name was Brianne. The food was delicious and the service was fast. A great experience.
A friend and I recently went to this restaurant for a late dinner. Great service and the food was delicious. I had the Chicken Parmigiana and it wasn't disappointed. This was my first time at East Side Mario's and I will definitely go back for the next time I visit St. John's.
Recently my hubby and I were in St. John's for a mini vacation staying at the Holiday Inn Portugal Cove Road, East Side Marios is attached to this hotel. After a long drive we decided to stay in for dinner, it was our first mistake....First it took an inordinate amount of time for the wait staff to acknowledge us and be seated, the restaurant was not full. Upon seating us we we're informed that there was no bread, soup or salad. I asked if we the cost of our meals would be reduced and I told no with a giggle. The menu states specific meals come with soup or salad and bread. Needless to say we we're incredibly disappointed. Additionally the service was slow and the wait staff was obviously overwhelmed and tired. The next morning we went for breakfast as we prepaid for our breakfasts when booking our room. We stood at the front for nearly 10 minutes before the wait staff seated us only to be told that there was no bread so toast wouldn't be provided but we could substitute with an English muffin or pancakes. I'm sitting there thinking there's a grocery store just up the road, really no one could go pick up a loaf of bread. I know things have changed because of COVID but poor service and blase attitudes are just not acceptable.
