You must stop by for breakfast, lunch or afternoon snack. This cafe is in located close to Quidi Vidi Lake ( pronounced kitty vitty or Quida Vida) a popular tourist spot. This cafe helps individuals struggling to overcome barriers to obtain meaningful employment. I had salt fish cakes, a Newfoundland favourite, absolutely delicious, served with sweet mustard pickles-loved by Newfoundlanders. And the desserts! Fabulous! Stop by for a simple, great meal.
I wanted this place to be good. I've heard good things about it. They do good in the community. I wanted to give them my full support. The restaurant was not busy when we went in. Two or three other tables. The lady at the cash greeted us and we carried on to a seat in the back for a more private conversation. 15 minutes later she came by with menus. 15 minutes after that she came and took our order. Our food arrived about half an hour later. Our paninis consisted of store bought bread and deli meat, on a white plate. Nothing fancy or special. My salad was from a bag though had a few other vegetables thrown on top, with bottled dressing. When it came time to pay, I was overcharged by about 50%. The lady tried to argue with me that I was incorrect until I pointed out on the menu that I should have been charged much less. She was reluctant to fix the mistake because "that's what the till says". My friend was also overcharged but decided not to argue.Neither of us will be returning.
Wanted a quick bite for lunch on Friday as we were having a time that night but needed something to tide us over. arrived close to closing but was greeted with a smile. the soup and half sandwhich combination was just what we needed. awesome gem hidden away, try it.
We booked this place for a community group meeting during breakfast time. The room was large enough to hold a breakfast at the table for close to 100 people. We had access to the micophone and projector. Parking was just across from the Cafe. The community conference room was next to the restaurant and readily accessible from another door close to the road. Food was good. Part of the proceeds go to the Helping the Homelessness in NL. Would go there again.. A place for group meeting easily missed by people unless you have been there before. We will use it again next summer definitely. BTW, the buffet food was good and plentiful too. Price was within our price range...Highly recommended. The only setback is that the number of people is likely limited to under 100 and is therefore good for smaller group functions.
