Feedback gevenI visited this place today to see "A Raisin in the Sun," which was performed in a spacious room adjacent to the bar. The play was outstanding, and the drinks served at the bar were also excellent. The staff was incredibly friendly as well.
That night was truly unforgettable, packed with bottom-shelf tequila shots and a wild human centipede performance. To give you an idea of the eclectic atmosphere, a band called "Butthole" took the stage, and they were fantastic—exactly the sound that suited the venue. Honestly, Leñador should probably just hire them for regular performances; they were a perfect fit. The night kicked off with two drag king performances and even a tightrope walker—wild, right?! Overall, this evening was definitely one of the top three most random nights of my life. As a fun aside, "El Leñador" translates to "The Lumberjack" in Spanish, which added an additional layer of confusion I wasn’t expecting. The young-at-heart bartenders had a bit of trouble with Square, the credit card processing software. Given how retro everything else felt, it was surprising they were using such modern tech. But honestly, it didn’t bother me much—my gin and tonic was good enough to overlook any little hiccups. In short, I’m not quite sure how to encapsulate the experience other than to say I absolutely loved it. I’m giving it five stars for being a place where quirky, queer millennials can truly express themselves. This place is seriously awesome. No pun intended!
Absolutely fantastic! The food, service, and atmosphere are all outstanding. This place is a hidden gem on Cherokee St. It's spacious inside with convenient parking, great entertainment, and Wi-Fi. The beautiful bar adds to the charm; you really have to experience it to believe it! Don't be put off by the exterior—it could use some updates. I highly recommend checking it out!
This is a cozy little venue with a consistent bartender who has been there for a while. I often ponder how they manage to keep the doors open. The local performances are usually small and intimate, showcasing a variety of local artists. It's a nice place with a great vibe, and I will likely return.
The exterior has a Mexican vibe, while the interior feels more German, making it a fantastic spot to enjoy a Stag beer and witness something unusual.
