In this case, not mine , a hard working gentleman deserves a retirement with a singing, sometimes saucy milf to service them. This review is from the perspective of a daytime visitor. Yeah, pub 231 can seem provincial, but that doesn 't mean anyone 's unfriendly. It just means maybe life moves comfortably paced here. Really, don 't hold it against anybody because they know each other 's name. I 'm not a regular, but nobody gave me the southern Illinois small town bar stare. Pizza is very good . I get the acronym M.O.B.S. (mushroom, onion, bacon, sausage) with xtra chz. Cheap drinks for a clientele who isn 't. Yes to burgers, yes to fries.
Just the kinda place I like. Nothing too fancy but makes you feel right at home. Friendly atmosphere and great bar food. Can't wait to come back!
Great food, great service from Jazz and you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. I got the Phili steak sammie and it was good with the side of white queso.
The staff isn 't especially friendly and the food is pretty meh . I felt like when me and my group walked in, everyone looked at us as if to say What are you doing here!? Because we weren 't regulars. Our waitress was on her phone and talking to a man at the bar the whole time, as well. Overall, my opinion of this establishment is not great.
First time here. Good brunch. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Good variety of pastries. Didn't try a mimosas but others around us said they were very good.
