401 West - St. Marys

My wife and I visited 401 West restaurant for dinner on our way back home from JAX airport. We had read online that this restaurant offers local food and beer. The entrance was upstairs and the outdoor deck seating overlooking the river was lovely. The service was a bit slow, but the food was delicious. We enjoyed the warm fish dip and bread appetizer, as well as the flounder with corn salsa over grits and the 401 burger. Surprisingly, the restaurant was not very crowded on a Friday night. We left feeling a bit confused about the restaurant's marketing theme, as it seemed a bit eclectic. The decor, music, craft beer, menu, prices, and ambiance didn't quite match up. Despite this, we decided to return because the food was so good.

The staff was very pleasant and the shrimp grits seafood pasta was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our meal on the outdoor patio with stunning views. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant is the top spot in town for dining. The food, ambiance, and scenic view were exceptional.

I had a retirement dinner here with a party of about 30 and they did not fail to impress and cater to all of our needs. The food was spot on and the staff was, as always, top notch. Just an all around great place! Thanks to Bill and all of the great staff that work very hard.

I'm so glad that we pulled into this place while searching for another restaurant. The first great thing is the location. The view from all levels is stunning and unobstructed. Second, we were greeted quickly by the hostess as soon as we were noticed. They were a little busy, but let us know they'd be with us shortly. Heather was our server and she was great. Third, all of the drinks and food that we had were delicious. I really enjoyed the blueberry aperitif, and the sweet tea cocktail is so so good! We wanted the grilled and chilled peaches, but they were sold out . We ordered the bacon balls instead. We will have to go back for the peaches before summer is over. We saw them being taken to another table; they look divine. My husband loves all shrimp and grits, and he loved theirs too. I ordered the catch of the day... oh man. It was founder with a blueberry purée over collards and polenta. Easily, it was in the top three meals I've had all of 2022. I don't even eat fish.. it was incredible. We both ate every single bite of our meals. Then, we asked for dessert too. The maple pecan? cheesecake was the perfect ending. It tasted like a scented candle that you wish you could eat, but can't. I was so full when it arrived, but we still ate nearly all of it. I'm so thankful for the meal and experience that we had here. I can't wait to return for brunch. I was enjoying the experience too much to take pictures. But looked as good as it tasted.
