The ambiance was more casual than I anticipated, with an unusual decor that didn't quite resonate with me. Given the high prices, I was expecting a more romantic setting, but instead, it had a mildly nautical feel that left me puzzled. What’s disappointing is that the restaurant didn’t feel like a chef-driven establishment focused on experimentation and delighting its customers. It felt rather generic, almost like a replica of something else. If you're staying at the Don CeSar and have plenty of money to spare, it may be worth a visit. But if you're willing to take a 15-minute drive across the bridge, you can find much better dining options in downtown St. Petersburg for about two-thirds of the price.
We had a wonderful celebratory dinner at the Don Cesar in Saint Pete Beach, Florida, and were attentively served by Zaron. We savored some specialty cocktails—my choice was a Manhattan and my husband opted for an old-fashioned. Zaron also recommended a lovely wine to complement our meals. My Iberico pork and my husband's Corvina were exceptional, and we topped off the evening with a delightful seasonal pumpkin dessert.
Absolutely worth my 5 's! The Don Cesar hotel is one of the most charming and peaceful stays in the St. Petersburg area. During my last visit, the hotel itself was undergoing a massive exterior restoration and now looks more beautiful than ever. Inside Florida 's 'Pink Palace ', the Maritana restaurant is always a must in each visit. The Maritana is partially indoor, part outdoor but I must say, the outdoor setting is definitely the better selection (If the weather permits . The patio offers a beautiful view overlooking both the pool, and the ocean; Most evenings, guests have the option to enjoy the ideal romantic ambiance with lounge seating around a glass firebox, beautiful twinkle accent lighting, and relatively quiet environment. In my visits, I 've noticed that the Maritana rotates menu items (maybe seasonally? , and I always keep a lookout for their calamari and filet mignon. I 've never been disappointed in my dinner selections here. Overall, the Maritana is definitely one of my top 3 favorite dining locations in St. Petersburg because of it 's scenery location at the tip of the St. Pete peninsula. Will definitely be back to visit!
The experience is entirely overpriced, it was just ok but for what we spent $600) it should have been amazing.
