Grand Hacienda St. Petersburg

I enjoyed the bottomless mimosas for $18.99 during Sunday brunch! The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding as always. Thank you once again!

It was good. Went for brunch and was disappointed that we couldn’t order off the regular lunch menu even though those menus were given to us too). The brunch menu was mostly eggs and the dinner menu was just too much food for noon. May go back and try it for dinner.

I wanted to try this restaurant because in the 6 years I have lived in Tampa/St. Pete, I have discovered most of the Mexican food here is mediocre at best. I'm from Texas, and have traveled extensively in both AZ and CA. So I consider myself a (US) Mexican food oficiando. Grand Hacienda wasn't much better than other places in the area, but there were some highlights. First, the margaritas were really good. Strong, not too sweet. The ceviche was very well done, as was the salmon salad. The salmon was medium rare (perfect temp), the greens crispy and fresh, with just the right amount of dressing. The chips were also crisp and fresh. Now for the not so good ... The salsa was really bland. No depth and no heat. It was almost more like a tomato sauce than salsa. The enchiladas were almost insulting. Dry, not enough meat or sauce, not enough cheese. The rice and beans were also bland. This is a great location and the patio is nice. They have an opportunity here, but they need to step up their game a bit!

The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. However, the mole sauce left much to be desired. Our friends really enjoyed their mixed quesadilla and churros with vanilla ice cream. The waiter was friendly and brought over a selection of hot sauces when we inquired about what they had. Unfortunately, he didn’t follow up after a few minutes to see if we needed anything else. We requested an extra basket of chips and salsa, but he forgot that and another item we needed. We also had to ask for more water. On a positive note, the fajitas were quite good.

The prices were too high for the small portion sizes, and the food wasn't anything special, though it was convenient. However, I did receive good service.
