The Five Kings Brew Pub - St Stephen

Very noisy. Nothing to absorb the sound. Impossible to chat even in a group of four. Thought it was a fancy restaurant but it is a pub with pub food. Enjoyed the diversity to the menu. Not easy to eat gluten- free so not safe for someone with serious gluten issue. Chairs ok but not comfortable. Service was excellent and friendly. Might try patio on a spring day. Likely too hot in the summer. And needed a sweater inside on a warm day. A bit overpriced at $100 for lunch for four from sandwich menu and no drinks. But inflation does mean higher food prices.

We discovered this restaurant on Google maps shortly after crossing the border around lunchtime. It is conveniently located a short distance from the highway and across the street from a charming park by the river. The weather was beautiful, so we opted to sit outside where our server quickly took our drink orders and informed us of their specials. I ordered the daily special, ham and brie on sourdough with roasted pepper soup, while my wife chose the seafood chowder and an IPA. The portions were generous and incredibly tasty. My wife’s chowder was filled with delicious seafood, almost too much for her to finish. The total bill came out to under $40US with a 20% tip, making it a reasonable price for the quality of food and service. This may not be the cheapest or most expensive lunch we’ll have on our trip, but it was definitely worth it.

Stopped for lunch on our way back from PEI. Pleasantly suprised that it was open, since trip advisor said it was closed till Dec 2022. But the FB page said it was open. So we took a chance because when we called it went to voicemail. The lobster wontons were delicious. The bacon wrapped scallops were very good. My husband I got the lunch special which was a shaved beef sandwich with loaded potato soup. There was really enough beef for 1/2 a sandwich, so we just didnt eat 1/2 the bread. It was very good though. The soup needed salt pepper but was good. Our friends got the poutine which he said was OK, but the Gravy was not traditional. The spinach salad was very good! The dooryard beer was excellent. Overall enjoyable lunch. Nice atmosphere, good service.

Despite their explanation, I decided to order a medium rare burger at this restaurant. They informed me that they only serve well done burgers, but I went ahead with the order as I had experienced well done burgers before. However, I was surprised to find that the burger was dry and tasteless, especially considering the $18.00 price tag. My husband also found his burger to be the same and did not finish it. Additionally, our drinks were not to our liking - my request for no horseradish in my ****** Mary was not accommodated, and the drink was extremely hot with a thick peppered rim. We left the restaurant feeling dissatisfied and $90.00 poorer, including the tip, and still hungry. This was a disappointment for us as we had been craving a burger all day. The waiter was friendly, but the food and drinks were overpriced and not what we were looking for. We won't be returning.

Visited many times in 2021 with people visiting not many places in area great building and atmosphere food and service in all honesty the worst Ever.
