It ‘s a small shop in a food court center of a super busy plaza on Beach Blvd, hard to find parking. They have different kinds of “onigiri” (Japanese seaweed rice cakes). We went there once a year ago on a weekend, the line to order was so long so it took us more than an hour to order/get our onigiries but they were so good, worth the wait. This time was on a weekday, no line no wait, but we were kinda disappointed, they were still tasty but the rice was still hardened at some spots, they tasted like being in the refrigerator overnight and not reheated long enough, not fresh like the first time. I thought when they were slow, they should have more time to prep the food to make it better but no… hope not experiencing this again. We like “spicy salmon” ones the most (to me, not spicy at all or just only a touch), they are good snacks/appetizers, they taste better than they look
This has got to be the best onigiri I've had. I'm used to buying the cold premade ones from Korea or international grocery stores, so getting warm, made-to-order onigiri was such a treat! Tenori is located inside Rodeo 39 towards the back. We got the Spicy Salmon, Tuna with Mayo, and Pork Belly. All of them were delicious and made me feel very nostalgic of childhood. Highly recommend stopping by this spot if you're looking for a little snack!
Tenori was the first vendor I ever tried when Rodeo 39 and remains to be my personal number 1 choice when I come here. I recommend the KBBQ, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Pork Belly, or Spicy tuna! KBBQ is probably the best option for those who are trying the rice ball for the first time. The real winner is the furikake they put on each roll. I could just eat the furikake and rice together without the protein if I had the furikake at home. The proportions are just right not too much rice and just the right amount of filling. Not to mention probably a good bang for your buck 3 for $11 dollars!
Fire onigiri! My mom came into Rodeo 39 not knowing what to expect on our first time here, and I'm so glad we chose Tenori for lunch! My mom got two spicy tuna onigiri and I got two spam musubi. I got the lychee lemonade (so bomb! and my mom got the strawberry lemonade (equally fire! . Everything was so good, we immediately wanted to go back for seconds. The shop itself is so cute and there is seating right next to the bar to dig in. We will definitely be back when we visit Rodeo 39!
