Mercato Mio Italian Market

My party of 5 dined at this restaurant on 12-17. Our waitress was incredibly pleasant and provided excellent service, ensuring our glasses were always filled and offering great recommendations. The prices for the food were reasonable, although the cost of the wine was a bit high. This establishment serves the best Italian cuisine in State College, and I will definitely be returning soon. Keep up the great work!

We traveled from California to visit Mercato Mio for our daughter's graduation from Penn State. Despite positive reviews, the restaurant did not meet our expectations. We were surprised to find that it was located inside another business. While the service was good, the food was mediocre at best. Our dishes were lukewarm, not hot. I ordered the lasagna and found it to be subpar, something I would have considered sending back in different circumstances. The rest of our party also expressed disappointment with their meals. The ambiance was lacking, likely due to the busy graduation event. Unfortunately, all other nearby restaurants seemed to be fully booked. Although I regret having to leave a negative review, I feel it is important to be honest in my feedback.

The ambiance was pleasant with the perfect background music for conversation. Our server was friendly and efficient. The cocktails were well-crafted and generous. The antipasto appetizer was satisfying for sharing, but the carpaccio was lacking in meat. I ordered the rigatoni with lamb and short rib ragu, which turned out to be more like a thin broth. The meat was flavorful but would have been better paired with garlic mashed potatoes. My dining companions enjoyed their dishes of Nonna's spaghetti, lasagna, and pork, but we all agreed that the prices were a bit high. We were too full for dessert, and I was surprised when the server informed me that coffee was not available at our table. Despite these small disappointments, I would consider returning but would choose my dishes more carefully next time.

If you enjoy Italian food, you'll enjoy this restaurant. We had 3 different entrees and they were all delicious along with the desert. If you haven't tried this restaurant, you are missing a fine experience.

The menu is limited, but all four of us found something on it that we wanted. My husband had the salmon and said it was delicious. I had lasagna and our friends had the spagetti and meatballs and were very happy with it. We also had salads, which were fresh with good dressing on them. Our waitress was very prompt and pleasant. All-in-all it was a good experience. We'd go back, which we can't say about a fair number of restaurants in State College.
