This is the first time I have ever been here with a bunch of people and this place is pretty fancy. It's got that old fashioned 1960s feel to it. It makes sense because it became a business since 1964 on Forest avenue in Staten Island. Then in the next year, Egger's added three more locations 1. Historic Richmond Town 2.Urby 3. Snug harbor. They also have a website explaining the history of Egger's. They don't only sell ice cream. They have candy too. The owner of that store told us the history of this place and how it came to be. They also have different flavors of ice cream. They had strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and much more. I asked if they had coconut and they did. It was coconut almond fudge with toppings such as crunchies, sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles. I tried their ice cream and it was good. It only cost $8 but I bet a cost way more or less. Maybe next time if I wanted something sweet,I'll get something from here. And don't worry they take cash and credit.
Some of them get you in and , some like to talk to each other while you wait you almost get frustrated to the point where you want to cancel the order
Thanks to their policy I just left with two kids in tears. I bought a birthday cake for my nephew?s 8th birthday. After paying for it I asked for spoons and plates so we could eat it there. I was then told we were not allowed to eat our $50 small cake because we were not an official ?birthday party? although that policy wasn?t stated anywhere, nor were we informed prior to seating. Essentially, I could have bought ice cream for a fraction of the price, and then we would have been allowed to eat there. The employees also called the owner who stood by her antiquated policy, and we left with a disappointed birthday boy and a crying toddler.
Ice cream is amazing. Never had a bad experience with the food. I thoroughly enjoy it. However. I've been there twice in the last month and both times I had to hunt down a worker because we were forgotten about in the dining area. So not only was it a long wait until a worker tended to us. But then it's another long wait for the ice cream. So what should be only a half hour dining experience (for 2 people) has become an hour and a half. The staff are friendly, and I know they're trying. But management needs to help them work on timing and efficiency.
