What really impressed me was the perfect balance of the sauce and the cooking time. The pizza is cooked to perfection, and the crust is possibly the best I've ever had. Normally, I don't even eat the crust, but the Seppe crust is on another level—better than most restaurant breadsticks. The sauce is fresh and herbal. While it’s not my preferred style, it’s all about personal taste. I know people who enjoy Midwest-style pizza sauce, but I believe Seppe’s red sauce is the Michelin-star version for those who prefer their martinis with gin. Another highlight was the atmosphere and vibe. I usually don’t like the luxury rental feel of Urby, but Seppe combines the charm of a neighborhood pizzeria with a modern twist. In my opinion, Lee's Tavern is the best pizza bar I've ever been to, but Seppe is just as good, offering a contemporary vibe compared to Lee's classic Americana atmosphere. They also have a fantastic whiskey selection and great signature and classic cocktails—all reasonably priced for a NYC place with a Michelin star. The beer is cheaper here than at other upscale pizza bars on the island. There might be ten places of this caliber on the island, but this one seems to capture the vibe that the Michelin folks appreciate. It feels like a Keith McNally restaurant on Staten Island, but with Staten Island prices. You can enjoy this experience close to home, without needing a reservation, at an affordable price, and it truly feels like a neighborhood spot. It’s an amazing opportunity for people on the island and definitely worth the trip for anyone from outside Staten Island.
