This is the more casual sister restaurant for Renaa (Michelin Star). We came in for a weekday lunch. They have a nice patio area, but it's hard to comfortably seat more than 4 people out there. The interior has a nice view into the kitchen and lots of natural light. For wine, they had a blaufrankish on the menu, which was a nice surprise. The house bread is a country loaf that had a good crust and a nice softer chewy center. They had a lunch special a la carte or as a meal (with dessert and a salad). The meal is definitely a better deal NOK180 a la carte vs NOK250 for the whole meal. We tried the bolinius (salt cod fritters) with pea purée and a cauliflower couscous, both of which were unique good. Sandwiches are all open faced, served on rye with a slather of aioli. You can get 2 for NOK180 or 3 for NOK240. Steak: topped with an onion ring; the meat texture was a little tough Beef tartare: fresh, but a little under salted Shrimp with egg: the yolk was still nice and runny Fried cod: nicely fried Food took a little longer than expected (it was fairly empty at lunch), but everything was pretty solid. Service was helpful, friendly, and unpretentious.
I had an fabulous meal at Renaa while visiting a friend in Stavanger. The server was able to explain some of the things I was not familiar with in English which was very helpful to me. The quality of the meal was outstanding and well worth the price. note This review is dated June 2018 but it is actually from my visit in August, 2016. I hadn't realized that when I drafted it on my phone it hadn't actually posted and decided I would post it when I came across it on my computer.
I read that Stavanger has an amazing food scene and I was delighted that this came to be true! This may have been one of the best meals I have ever had. The atmosphere was modern and cozy, the staff was friendly and helpful, but the food was the star. I tried the cavatelli pasta and teriyaki salmon for appetizers. Both were very tasty. The main course was beef, with broccolini, and then it had this amazing side of potatoes, mixed with cream sauce, carrots, and pulled meat. I really don't know exactly what it was but it was the highlight. I wish I could order that today from the United States. Highly highly recommend this restaurant!
Great restaurant in the heart of old town Stavanger. Went in for early dinner, without reservation, and it was relatively empty. Was seated quickly without issues. The best part the food was good! Its as simple as that. Price is a bit on the higher end compare to other restaurants in the area but if you enjoy good food, then this is the place to go!
