Slopeside Grill - Steamboat Springs

While the food is pretty good, and the atmosphere of the restaurant nice at the base of the slope, management has been unable to staff the restaurant adequately for holidays outside of the winter ski season. For the 2012 Fourth of July holiday week, we found the restaurant staffed on a traveling holiday with a hostess so overstressed with seating, serving and bussing, that she dropped trays and was more than 4 5 tables away from the persons attempting to follow her to seating. Our waitress may have been 1 of 3 we saw, forgot to deliver drinks, brought the wrong wine and charged us for it AND the correct one, delivered cold food, had extra orders which were not for our table (3 items) delivered and then charged us for those. We were never asked about the food and had to follow her around to get the bill to her for correcting. Overall, the entire staff on duty continued to say that they didn't think it was going to be busy (not that they knew they were going to be understaffed for the evening) for probably the largest traveling holiday of the summer. POOR, POOR management of the restaurant for a location which has had good rating for quality and atmosphere.

Update a few years later. This place still sucks. Serve yourself from the bar. Worst pizza I’ve ever had. How are they still open??? July 10th, about 5:30 my wife, myself and 2 year old were sat for dinner. About 45 minutes after ordering our food, we asked our waiter when it might be ready. Thinking they may be short staffed, we weren 't upset, just trying to make sure our baby got home in time for bedtime. I forgot to ring it in. Wow. Ok, well, that sucks, but ok. Food comes out about an hour after ordering. Fine. Then dude is gone. Disappeared. Needing to get our check and leave, I finally spotted the manager bussing tables. No sense of what was happening, I explained to her the situation. Not one apology, not one complimentary beer (gesture, I care less about the money). Just hands us our check and walks away. Can 't tell you when I 've seen such disregard for customer service or complete lack of care. Clearly a poorly managed restaurant that 's not worth coming back. I even tried contacting the owner and never heard back. Yuck.

Came here for a late night feed. We ordered the pizza and a salad. The salad was plain and seemed to come out of a packet. The dressing was sweet. Luckily, we didn't come here for the salad. We just felt we needed some healthy food with dinner. The pizza was very good, and the addition of parmesan and chilli flake to it to the next level. From the perfectly cooked base, super tasty sauce, and fresh toppings, the pizza really hit the spot. I know it maybe off season but only having food runners meant you had to do everything yourself from drinks to cutlery, plates, and condiments. This was the only downside for the dinner.

Good, friendly service, excellent food, the best burgers and chicken we've had in Steamboat. Kids pizzas are huge and had a little spice to them, definitely a different flavor, but a huge portion. Got really crowded inside with the rain and most tables are cafeteria style, but still had room for all of us. Kid-friendliness: Loud homey atmosphere. Music and TV s. I
