The roasted pork, oxtail (fell off the bone) and Karoo lamb which forms part of the main menu was excellent. And not forgetting dessert ... Everything was well presented and tasted great. Edgar is so friendly and the staff was just as kind. Can't wait to be back
The food was wonderful, but the ambiance a little cold. Their selection of dishes is really amazing and cooked to perfection, the deserts were also delicious. If the ambiance could be made a little more cosy and less impersonal it would be a wonderful place to go for a nice night out.
We returned for our anniversary and was not disappointed. The Saldanha Bay Black mussle starter is tasty but be warned, it is a big portion that can be a main. The Berry Camembert was very tasty and the right size for a starter. The lambshank main was soft and bursting with flavour. The Impala loin was tender and delicious. The Hazelnut Creme Brulee disappointed as the hazelnut taste was not found in the brulee. The presentation of the dessert was good.
We attended a whisky paired dinner here and really enjoyed the food. The service at dinner and breakfast was impeccable. Staff were really attentive and friendly. <br/ <br/ We stayed over as well and Devon Valley had the right amount of luxury to make you feel like you're on vacation but also enough comfort to make you feel at home.<br/ <br/ Will definitely be back!
We stopped off at Flavours unexpectedly knowing that on Sundays they offer a lunch buffet menu.We decided we would give the buffet a try and just as well we did!Everything that we could imagine was there. For starters there was such a choice, from freshly baked bread, salads, calamari and mussels. As I don't eat mussels cold, I had enquired if it was possible to warm the mussels up as well as serve it with a creamy white wine sauce (to which I didn't mind paying any extra amount). The manager was more then happy to do this for me as a special request and also got the chef to chat to me to understand what it was that I was ideally looking for. The mussels were well presented and exactly how I had pictured. The mains that were offered were roasted Karoo lamb, pork leg with the most amazing cracking pieces, chicken&mushroom pie, vegetables and lamb oxtail. There was just so much choice. We then took a browse of the desert table which offered fruits, malva pudding and custard, mini meringues with berry compote and cream, mini cake variations carrot, baked cheesecake, apple frangipani as well as fudge, Oreo chocolate cake and a lovely selection of cheeses with crackers and chutney. If you looking for a Sunday lunch with breath taking views overlooking the Stellenbosch valleys, please try Flavours!
