Ego - Stockport

Ego is a nice Mediterranean restaurant chain and has a branch in Bramhall. The setting of the place is lovely with booths and comfy leather sofas. We were warmly greeted by the waiter and had a drink in the bar area before being taken to our table. The menu is quite extensive with a lot of classic dishes so there is something for everyone. I ordered the camembert which was very tasty. The cranberry sauce that accompanied it went well but the salad was rather unexciting. For main course I had the roasted salmon and pea and asparagus risotto. The salmon was cooked just right and the risotto was lovely and creamy. The only issue was the portion size which was rather small. Ego is a solid restaurant that does what it says on the tin. If you want a tasty and reasonably priced meal from a place that feels like it is part of a chain then this is the place for you. However if you want something inventive and a little bit different try an independent eaterie.

I enjoyed the Tapas menu last night, it is innovative and keenly priced, although wine bumps it up. I was a bit disappointed in the chicken as it was rather dry and two other orders came with a lot of toast. However, I would recommend Ego and I go there quite often. Good friendly service.
