Every week when I come to see my mum in Marple we go to our favourite cafe in Marple which is the Red Pepper cafe. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious.
We had 2 hot flat whites and not at all lukewarm. We shared a large fruit teacake which was one of the best we've tasted. Friendly staff too.
This place is OK, we ordered food and he took well over half an hour to arrive, which I think is too long to wait for a simple club sandwich and fries when you maybe are on restricted time at lunchtime. The club sandwich was disappointing too as it wasn't really a club sandwich but instead just a chicken and bacon toastie, a club sandwich should include salad and egg. We had to ask for cutlery to eat our food when it arrived as none was brought to the table. Overall disappointing.
I have lots of childhood memories of growing up in Marple so it was lovely returning with my mum to sample of of its highly rated eateries. Situated on the market st is The Red Pepper Cafe. My mum, who like myself can be tough to please had told me it was nice so I decided it was time to put the RP cafe to the test. It’s a cosy place with limited seating, the majority of which was occupied upon our arrival at around 10am on a crispy spring morning. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table for two and before long scanning the menu for an eagerly awaited breakfast treat. There was lots of options including the ubiquitous ‘full English’ which I managed to resist. After ordering a hot chocolate English breakfast tea both myself and mum went a little off piste are far as the menu was concerned. Mum requested and egg, tomato and slice of brown toast, whereas I went for bacon and sausage on white toast as opposed to the regulation balm cake advertised. Our server was not phased by the slight deviation from the standard fayre and took our order with aplomb! Shortly afterwards our beverages were served both came in delightful crockery, mums hot chocolate looked great and to my pleasure tea cup was as I’d expected served in decent china. The food did take a while to arrive but certainly not long enough for me to complain and when it did neither dish disappointed. I’d have to say mine was presented extremely well cut into little triangles (unusual but nice) with both bread toasted to a superb golden and bacon crispy as it should be. Sausage accompanying the bacon was quality and a far cry from the awful synthetic variety that lesser’s establishments are too keen to serve these days. Really enjoyed it and it was also reasonably priced so would highly recommend this cafe for breakfast or lunch.
