After my walk around the lake I went in and was ignored at the counter and then after ordering a flat white was told of the minimum charge. I’m fairly sure it doesn’t cost £2 to take payment from card these days and it doesn’t happen in other cafes I visit. Surely it’s better to take £3 than nothing at all.
When visiting Trentham I visited this lovely cafe with a friend for food and warm drinks. The service was very good and the table cleaned before we were served. My friend loves her coffee and commented this was one of the best that she had tasted. The lad who served us was new to the cafe and he was most professional.. Will certainly visit again and recommend...
Very disappointed with our visit to Capabilitea. When you visit Threntham you have a vast choice of places to eat and drink but this place sadly, is below par. The tables weren’t cleaned off quickly and on a very rainy miserable day, it wasn’t busy enough to excuse this. I was ignored at the counter at first by a girl doing something else for too long and a ‘hi, I won’t be a minute’ was all that was required. A bubbly blonde girl took my order but informed me that my panini choice of mozzarella, tomato and pesto wasn’t available as they had no tomatoes. Not great but ordered something else instead then on sitting down saw on the receipt that next to the Paninis it said ‘no salad’. When our drinks were brought over I questioned why it said no salad and was told they didn’t have any. I wasn’t told this at the till, the price was still the expensive same and I politely and cheekily asked if they’d put on a few crisps instead. Apparently no as the two sad looking lonely on their plates Paninis were brought over to us. They were hot, they were nice enough but I felt ripped off. I would suggest to stop customers leaving with a bad taste in their mouths, get a member of staff to run out and pick up some salad, inform the customers you haven’t got the ingredients when ordering, charge a little less or open a bag of crisps and throw a few of them onto the plates. It’s basic obvious customer service. People have choices of where to go, you are expensive or as expensive as other places who take more care. And take down the silly chalk signs saying all sandwiches, Paninis etc come with our daily fresh side salad if you haven’t got any. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t return
This is a lovely gem of a place, great food, drinks and not to forget the cakes. Staff always pleasant and helpful.
Authentic tea room with a nice selection of light lunches and pastries at good prices. Highly recommend this venue if you are in the Trentham are or visiting the Trentham estate. 5 star hygiene rating.
