Wiston Estate Winery And Chalk

We had a lovely evening celebrating our birthdays. The food was amazing. We sat near the kitchen and it was good to watch the chefs cook.

What a beautiful building, decorated with great taste creating a lovely ambiance. Our starters were delicious and set the standard. Sadly, our main courses were tepid. The lamb was delicious and the flavours were lovely, but the potato was cold and the whole plate was tepid at best. Arguably, we should have sent it back- but we aren’t comfortable doing that and don’t expect to in a restaurant that sets the bar high. We were asked how the food was, and we said delicious, but tepid and to be fair, we were offered replacement meals. However, by this time we had half eaten the food and the mood was lost. We had planned to stay for pudding, but we decided against it. Disappointing.

Chalk catered for our works festive get together. Food was divine, wine was spectacular and service was wonderful. It's not the easiest when you have a large crowd in to deal with but our experience was fantastic. With 2 vegans in the party and 1 GF Chalk ensured that all needs were met catered for effortlessly and with great care. Locally foraged Hen of the Woods mushrooms, made my day!!

Really delicious meal in a great setting. All the staff were brilliant. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning soon.
